WORKSHOP ON THE SELECTION OF TÜRKİYE’S TOP 100 GEOLOGICAL HERITAGE SITES AND KEY GEOLOGICAL SITES FOR NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL VISIBILITY

The Workshop on Selection of Türkiye’s 100 Most Important Geological Heritage and Key Geological Areas for National and International Visibility hosted by our Institution was held on March 14, 2024, at the Culture Center Sadrettin Alpan Hall with the participation of managers and staff of the public institutions and organizations, heads of professional chambers, universities, and private sector representatives. The workshop, with around 160 attendees, started with a moment of silence and the National Anthem followed by opening speeches. Our Deputy Director General Haşim Ağrılı also made a speech. Following the opening speeches, Prof. Dr. Erdin Bozkurt, Chairman of the Board of the Turkish National Union of Geosciences, and Prof. Dr. Nizamettin Kazancı, Chairman of the Board of Natural Sciences of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO, made presentations on the subject.

Following the presentations, discussions were held on the selection of Türkiye’s 100 Most Important Geological Heritage and Key Geological Sites.
