MINERALOGICAL  AND  PETROGRAPHICAL  ANALYSES

For mineralogic petrographic analyses, samples must be consolidated, hard, and suitable for preparation of thin and/or polished sections, in order to determine their textures, mineralogic compositions and other such properties depending on their mineralogical composition and features.

Rock samples should be collected fresh surface, if not possible, samples must be taken after the rock surface is cleaned off weathering and possible decompositions.

Mineralogical-petrographical data obtained weathered samples only reveal information of the individual sample. It could not represent the whole area it was taken .

Collected samples must represent the spot (field) it has been taken or the aim of the study as best as possible.

Samples must have a “Sampling Label” sticker on them by the person who requests the Mineralogical-Petrographical Analysis. Each label sticker must have appropriate info that includes the sample mark, type and the necessary information for the analysis. The sample mark must also be written on the Analysis/Test Application Form.

Different samples should not be brought with the same sample mark. Otherwise, the samples will not be processed.

If more than one analysis/test will be performed on the same sample, sample size must be increased according to the type and number of analyses.

Samples must be brought in a clean, thick transparent plastic bag or in a sturdy cloth bag.

(*) This Analysis/Test is accredited by Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) in accordance with TS EN ISO/IEC 17025 Standard.
