WATER ANALYSES (SAMPLE ACCEPTANCE REQUIREMENTS)

The "Water Pollution Control Regulation Sampling and Analysis Methods Declaration" specifies the conditions for sampling.

Containers for the samples must be completely clean, unused plastic, glass, or quartz containers.

Sampling Labels are required on sample containers. The following information should be included on each label.

SAMPLING LABEL

Sampling Area

Sampling Point

Sampling Type

Sampling Person

Sampling Date/Time

Each sample should be preserved and stored according to the sort of analysis requested. The processes for preserving and storing water samples are listed in the table below. The table was created using the 23rd Edition of Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater.

*It should be checked with pH paper (or pH meter) whether it reaches the appropriate pH value.

**Analytic grade acid should be used for acidification.

P: plastic (polyethylene or the equivalent),

P(A): Plastic (rinsed with 1 distilled water + 1 HNO3)

C: Glass,

C(A): Glass (rinsed with 1 distilled water + 1 HNO3),

C(B): Borosilicate

pH, conductivity, CO3-2 (carbonate), HCO3- (bicarbonate), alkalinity, acidity, turbidity, hardness, total solids, total dissolved solids, total suspended solids, anions   (F-, Cl-, Br-, NO3-, NO2-, PO43-,SO4 2-), Si (silicon), and NH4+ (ammonia) analyses are all carried out on acid-free water samples. After washing, samples should be transferred to clean containers by shaking vigorously with the sample to ensure that there is no air gap. If Total Solids, Total Dissolved Solids, and Suspended Solids analyses are also requested, the sample amount should be at least 2.5 (two and a half) liters.

Analyses of all metals (Pb, Zn, Cd, Co, Cu, Ni, Ba, Fe, Mn, Cr, B, Li, Mo, Sr, Al) and heavy metals are carried out in acidic water samples (As, Hg, Se). Acidic water samples should be at least 1 (one) liter.
