ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY GEOTHERMAL SYSTEMS (ITJS) (HEATED DRY ROCK) WORKSHOP IN AYDIN BETWEEN 18 - 19.11.2021 WAS HELD BY GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF MTA

The Advanced Technology Geothermal Systems (ITJS) (Heated Dry Rock) workshop was organized by our General Directorate in Aydın, under the leadership of our Ministry with the attandence of Aydın’s Deputy Governor Mr. Cemal ŞAHİN, our Director General Mr. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yasin ERDOĞAN, Mining and Petroleum Affairs (MAPEG)’s Director General Mr. Cevat GENÇ, Head of ETKB Natural Resources Department, Mr. Leman ÇETİNER, Deputy Director General Abdulkerim AYDINDAĞ, President of Aydın Chamber of Industry (ASO) Mr. Mehmet Yunus ŞAHİN, Institution representatives, Academicians, Tübitak, Private sector representatives, Professional chambers, Association Managers and other employees of our institution.

The workshop covered topics such as Applications and Feasibility of Advanced Technology Systems (ITJS) in the world, Identifying the potential and target areas of our country, deciding on advanced/innovative technological designs, environmental and social analysis, hydrogeochemical and isotopic evaluations, structural geological analysis, use of geophysical methods, microseismic studies, and reservoir presentations and explanations. All workshop attendees were asked for their comments and suggestions at the end of the meeting, and their responses were recorded.

Following the event, the Workshop attendees visited a geothermal power plant (GPP) at Aydın Germencik, where the power plant authorities provided the essential technical information and the functioning system of the power plant was inspected.
