International Relations Unit
Mission, Responsibilities and Content
To provide correspondence, communication and coordination between our General Directorate and mainly Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, all govermental instutitions, Turkish and foreign universities, institutes, and geosurveys which have been studying on geosciences, and also enable internal information flow in units of MTA related in neccessary international issues
To investigate the opportunities of technical cooperation projects in the field of geosciences concerning the study areas of MTA, in Turkey or abroad
To enable the attendance of the staff to the courses, training programs, workshops, conferences, technical trips, and scientific events held in abroad, and also arrange the international meetings
To maintain the institutional memberships of MTA, and provide logistic support to its departments for the running of the international projects on behalf of General Directorate of MTA
To provide technology transfer in order to reduce the external dependency by using the mineral resources, effectively. On the other hand, to conduct research projects in order to investigate natural resources out of the Turkey, mainly in neighbouring countries, Central Asia and Turkic Republics, and then transfer the Turkish Mining to the out of Turkey

Mission, Responsibilities and Content
To follow the chapters of EU legislation related to the activities and study areas of MTA periodically, and screen the updated items concerning MTA, during the harmonization of Turkish legislations to the EU acquis
To inform the departments and the units of MTA about EU, and do necessary correspondence and keep them informed about events concerning EU, regularly
To follow the studies which have been carried out under the implementation of the National Program
To inform internal departments of MTA periodically, about MATRA and PSO Programs offered by Holland, meanwhile European Union-IPA and 7thFramework Programs
To monitor and document both EU Projects (MATRA and PSO Programs, IPA and EU 7thFramework Programs), and the other international projects, from the begining to the end

Participation to Joint Economic Commission Meetings has provided.
Under the “External Trainers Pool for DIS-related Trainings Projects”delivered by EUGS, training of the some staff on “Twining Project”, “Project Management”, and “Project Development & Project Fiche Drafting” has been achieved.
The EU project called as “Preparing an inventory of closed and abandoned mining waste facilities” has been proposed to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, with the coordination of the International Relations and European Union Divison of MTA
In content with the EU 7thFramework Program, institutional profile of MTA was established and submitted to FP 7 National Cordination Office/TUBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey)
Aiming the arrangement of the EU screening and negotiation groups, a meeting was achieved in order to evaluate the EU acquis, at Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
