Mineral Processing Division

  • Mineral Processing Subdivision
  • Coal Technologies Subdivision
  • Technical Data Assessment Subdivision

Mineral Processing Subdivision:

To determine and develop processes that will be applied in order to concentrate ore samples by chemical or physico-chemical methods

  • Preparation of process flow diagrams
  • In order to utilize in design of concentrators, determination of data collected through continuous pilot scale experiments, when necessary
  • To provide solution proposals and to solve technological problems that occur in existing concentrators.

GENERAL HEADINGS OF THE TESTS PERFORMED AT MINERAL PROCESSING SUBDIVISION LABORATORIES AND PILOT FACILITES

Coal Technologies Subdivision:

  • All kinds of technological and physical tests concerning coal
  • To perform research studies at laboratory and pilot scale
  • The burning properties and emission values of fuels are determined by stove experiment.
  • Lignite coals in Turkey contain high amounts of water, ash and sulfur. Therefore our lignite coals are easily pulverized and they cannot be used effectively as a household fuel. These coals are improved by washing, drying and compacting. Also by adding some solid materials the sulfur and smoke emission of these coals are reduced and they are improved to a higher calorie providing fuel. In addition to these, air flow rates, capacity and heat efficacy tests of stove provided by the producers are tested.
  • Determination of solid product, gas product and tar efficiency of coals at Fisher Retard.

Moreover research studies concerning validation of charcoal able coal potential in a more effective manner and research studies concerning production of high quality metallurgical charcoal production, are performed in the subdivision.

Smoke free household fuel, which is produced by air channeled brick materials are also developed in the subdivision.

General Headings Of The Tests Performed At Coal Technologies Subdivision

  • Briquetting experiments at laboratory and pilot scale.
  • Briquet failure tests
  • Determination of burning properties of solid fuels at stove.
  • Drum test
  • Hardgrove grindability index
  • Determination of porosity
  • ASTM T6-T25
  • MIKUM, M40-M10
  • Charcoaling experiments at a laboratory and pilot scale
  • Air flow through stove
  • Shatter test
  • Free expanding index
  • Visible density determination
  • Particle size distribution analysis
  • Stability test
  • Tar analysis at Fischer Retord

Technical Data Assessment Subdivision

In this subdivision results of the analysis and tests performed at the MAT department are evaluated converted into technical data
